I learned to be a trainer in the toy retailer industry and its this unique style, international experience and applied psychology that makes my approach different. I want people to have a learning experience rather than attend a training session based on PowerPoint presentations.
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do - our relationship with other people, with our life choices, with our small part of the world. At the centre of this is the relationship with have with ourselves and its here that we can often uncover the things that truly motivate us, along with the bumps that can trip us up.
Through teaching teams and individuals to positively reflect on previous outcomes, providing support as the team changed behaviours and targeted new goals, I began to see my future career path - this was my inspiration.
My professional career in the toy retail area showed me that working hard and having fun don’t have to be mutually exclusive. I moved to France and worked for a large aerospace and defence company, where I developed training programs and facilitated sessions across Europe, often with multiple nationalities with varying levels of English. I began looking at training in different ways, focussing particularly on how the use of language can influence situations - this led me into the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
I’m a qualified NLP Trainer and Coach Practitioner and while I started my NLP journey with my career in mind, I soon realised the effect it would have on my personal development.
NLP not only built on the psychology of learning and my understanding of how amazing the human brain can be, it also provided me with practical tools and techniques that are relevant for many areas of day to day life and in overcoming personal challenges.
I set up Hoko Training & Consultancy - the ideal platform to combine my industry experience and NLP training to support people on the journey to achieving their goals.
